Careers in Surgery Conference

After the success of the last three CiS conferences, we are now pleased to announce the date for the 4th annual ‘Career in Surgery’ (CiS) conference, which shall be taking place on Saturday 24th September 2016 at Centre for Professional Development, College of Medical and Dental Sciences, University of Birmingham.

The conference is aimed at medical students and junior doctors who wish to gain an insight into a career in surgery. ‘Career in Surgery’ is a full day event that focuses on providing detailed information about all the surgical specialties, to help delegates make more informed decisions about their future careers. It brings together higher surgical trainees from different fields to share insights of the realities of a surgical career in the modern NHS. The conference is run with support from Health Education West Midlands.

The day will comprise of lectures, small group discussions and Q&A sessions. Delegates will have an opportunity to submit an abstract for poster presentation and win a prize.

The conference is awarded 6 CPD points by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Places are limited. The conference fee is as follows:

West Midlands Trainee – £50
Medical Students – £60
Doctors (all grades) – £90

Delegates can submit abstracts and deadline is extended until 16th sept 2016. Abstracts can be submitted in any aspect of surgery from any part of the world. These can include:
– audits,
– original research,
– basic science projects and
– elective projects.
